Mark's Art

Mark Larsen is a ‘people’s choice’ award-winning artist, residing in North Canterbury, although originally from Otago, which is where he established his love of nature.  His early paintings developed an eager audience and after being trained in the medium of steel he established a passion, enjoying the process and ability to manipulate this medium.  

Over the years, Mark has been challenged to explore his inner being in order to develop his true voice which has created a multi-facetted and diverse artist – providing an ability to create using a choice of materials and mediums, working with a variety of steel, wood, stone and colour.

“I am driven by ideas, and I choose materials or medium according to the concepts of my work”, says Mark. Part of what he finds exciting about sculpture is experimenting with a range of techniques and properties – pushing the limit of the material and taking them outside of their usual use to create context.    

Mark’s art has won multiple awards, appeared in numerous publications, and his art has been collected on several continents.
